Mo-Pac purchased a total of 208 of these 1500 hp "General Purpose" GP7 locomotives from EMD,
beginning with the delivery of the first 34 units in June-July 1950.
An additional 40 GP9 units were also purchased.
GP7s and 9s were used to power both freight and secondary passenger trains.
